Who we are

BNP Paribas Private Equity has built a strong presence in the European Private Equity market through its four business lines: Funds of Funds, Direct Investment and Fund Administration, as well as Strategy and Development. It relies on the international network of BNP Paribas Investment Partners and the BNP Paribas Group to distribute its products on a broad scale and to gradually extend its foreign investment activities, especially to emerging markets.

Background

BNP Paribas Private Equity was formed in 1998 out of Banexi, the former investment banking arm of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and a Private Equity specialist since the 1970s. The gradual transition from managing portfolios on behalf of BNP to discretionary management coincided with a boom in Private Equity investing in France.

BNP Paribas Private Equity gave birth to four asset management companies between 1998 and 2004: Banexi Ventures Partners, Euromezzanine Conseil, Azulis Capital and Orkos Capital. All four are now independent firms specialising either in an industry sector or a specific segment within Private Equity.

BNP Paribas Private Equity's development along with the management companies has nurtured its experience in the structuring and administration of Private Equity funds.

Today

BNP Paribas Private Equity is organised under French law as a SAS company governed by an Executive Committee and a Supervisory Committee. It is authorised by the AMF to manage Private Equity funds and provide investment advice...

In 2006 BNP Paribas Private Equity became a part of the BNP Paribas Group’s asset management business, the BNP Paribas Investment Partners

At 30 June 2009 BNP Paribas Private Equity had a staff of 32, with around €800 million under management or advice.
